12:42am...Seriously?!? I've been up enjoying my long weekend, struggling to remind myself of the fact that I have to be back on campus tomorrow morning. I'm turning in my PDP (professional development plan, in classic academic shorthand) for my department head to offer some constructive criticism. I'll also be meeting up with Tina for some fun catching up before I head off for a long weekend of visiting Katie, Jordan, & baby Hannah, spending time with my family, and finally heading to a week of middle school youth camp at Wesley Acres Camp in ND. I can't WAIT for a few weeks of awesome photo opportunities, working on designs for a few very fun clients, and some quality R&R time with the WAC directors and staff. Should be an awesome couple weeks!
In other news...packing began officially this weekend. Yikes, I know. I realized that since leaving my parents' household 9 years ago, I haven't lived in the same house for more than 2 years - EVER. Heh...most of the time I switch CITIES. For the first time in my adult life, the idea of "putting down roots" has a bit of meaning (although I'll admit the thought is a bit annoying). Buying/bought a house, moving the end of August, and ONE more round of packing commences. Guess what I packed first? HA! Movies and winter blankets. Sadly, though...I regretted the choice of packing up those blankets almost as soon as the air conditioner kicked back on. Bah! Silly me. (If you know me at all....I'm the world's coldest person - in a very literal sense. I'm always freezing!) Anyway...it begins again. Now, just to recruit some help for moving, loading, and unpacking. Any volunteers? :)
The best part of buying a house is re-designing and renovating it, in my mind. Naturally, I'll do as much of that myself as possible! I already have big plans for the main floor, the kitchen, shooting space and office space for Rae Studios to FINALLY have a studio space in Brookings, and the someday master suite. I'll post sketches, plans, and photos throughout the process - I PROMISE! Can't wait. Until then, I guess the studio space will just have to wait. One thing I HAVE decided recently is that Rae Studios and RaeIA (interior architecture, silly!) probably shouldn't be sharing space. SOOO...I'm looking into a commercial office for the design business. More details to come soon! For now...Sleep!
